Social Media + Influencer Campaigns

Fashion and Social Media are both forward thinking. Both depend on being on-trend and positioning themselves for what is to come in the near future. Fashion and lifestyle brands now have a new decision to make when it comes to marketing, whether to use a social media influencer or a traditional model influencer. “Influencer” is a somewhat loosely defined term. Anyone with a large following on Instagram now considers themselves an influencer. But simply having a large following does not guarantee they can drive sales. I am still very much in the camp that believes models provide a better return on investment. They have amassed followers that follow them specifically because of an interest in fashion and have a vested interest in a models career. Models can also drive organic editorial coverage simply because well-followed blogs and publications report on fashion campaigns that popular models are shooting. In this day and age of social media, and more importantly engagement, relies on the consistent production of new content, more specifically photography. Brands making the decision to make social media marketing a primary channel to build their brand need to make a firm commitment to shooting regular, fresh, on-trend content to keep their own follower base interested and to bring new followers in the loop.
