There is no doubt that social media and immediate go-to market digital marketing is changing the landscape for traditional print media advertising as well as other formats such as billboard advertising.
However I think it’s important not to rely too heavily or go all-in with social media advertising. That is not to discount social media advertising, it is important, but it’s also important to realize that traditional advertising is not dead.
Print advertising and in-store advertising are still vital to a well rounded branding campaign. If you spend any time on Instagram you know they are now shoving ads down our throat and they are becoming more and more saturated. We all know how to mindlessly scroll past these sponsored posts without even noticing the content. It’s also important to realize that focusing too much on building a following can also be a waste of time. Instagram’s algorithm has continuously been adjusted so your organic posts are seen by fewer and fewer of your followers. Currently organic reach is down to about 4-7% of your followers.
